Meta recently introduced the Meta AI chatbot on WhatsApp, which has quickly become popular among users. This artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot is also available on Facebook,

Instagram, and Messenger. While it excels in text-based responses, Meta is now reportedly working on a new update that will enable Meta AI to respond to and edit photos sent by users.

According to the WhatsApp update tracker WABetaInfo, this new feature was spotted in the

WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.24.14.20. As the feature is still under development, it is not yet available to all beta testers. However, WABetaInfo has shared screenshots of the AI feature, showcasing its capabilities.

The screenshots indicate that with Meta AI, WhatsApp users will have full control over image modifications, including the ability to delete images at any time. Additionally, Meta AI will offer an option to edit photos directly within the chatbot using a custom prompt.

Image editing capabilities are already present in other generative AI models like ChatGPT and Gemini AI. Some open-source models from Llama 3 can also perform this function, but users need to run these models locally without accessing external source material.

This new image editing feature will enhance the WhatsApp user experience, allowing users to quickly edit and adjust their photos directly within the app, thereby saving time.
