Exploring WhatsApp’s ‘Imagine Me’ AI Tool: What Can It Do?

WhatsApp, the popular messaging app owned by Meta, is taking another leap forward with its new AI chatbots, now being tested in select markets, including India. The latest innovation on the horizon is an AI feature that lets users create personalized stickers or AI avatars using their own photos.
This exciting ‘Imagine Me’ feature, spotted by WABetaInfo through a leaked screenshot, allows users to generate unique images of themselves with the help of Meta’s AI chatbot. When users opt in, the service may prompt them to upload a few selfies, which will then be used to create custom AI-generated stickers.
Imagine replacing your usual profile picture with a creative AI-generated avatar! According to WABetaInfo, this feature was found in the latest WhatsApp beta for Android, version 2.24.14.13, and promises to offer a fun and personalized touch to your profile.
What’s more, the ‘Imagine Me’ feature will be optional, meaning users will need to enable it in their settings. It will offer customizable backgrounds and locations, from lush forests to outer space, enhancing the personalization of your avatars.
Keep an eye out for this feature in future updates. Users will also be able to activate it by typing “@Meta AI Imagine me.” Currently, Meta AI, powered by the Llama 3 large language model (LLM), is available on Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger apps.
