How to Transfer Photos from Google Photos to iCloud: A Step-by-Step Guide

Transferring Photos and Videos between Android and iPhone Made Easy
Transferring photos or videos between Android and iPhone can often be troublesome and data-intensive. Since March 2021, Apple has allowed users to transfer media from iCloud to Google Photos. Now, Google offers the reverse: transferring media from Google Photos to Apple iCloud.
According to 9to5Mac, this new Google Photos to iCloud transfer tool is part of the Data Transfer Initiative (DTI) and will be available in the coming weeks. Previously, users had to download media from Google Photos and then upload it to iCloud. This process is now streamlined with a direct transfer option, enabling users to transfer photos from Google Photos to Apple iCloud without downloading and uploading.
Apple updated its support page, announcing this service’s availability in over 240 countries and regions. Previously, third-party services like Flickr, Microsoft OneDrive, and SmugMug facilitated photo and video transfers. With this new tool, iCloud is now an option in the Google Takeout transfer tool.
Currently, this feature supports transferring basic photo and video files to iCloud Photos. However, it does not support Motion Photos (GIF photos), RAW files, or Live Photos, which will still be visible on the iCloud drive.
