How will YouTube’s new copyright tool impact content creators?

Creating videos for YouTube can be challenging, especially when it comes to music. YouTube’s strict copyright policies often lead to videos being flagged for using copyrighted music. To address this, YouTube has introduced an enhanced “erase song” tool. This tool uses an AI-powered algorithm to accurately detect and remove copyrighted music from videos, offering creators more control.
Previously, users had no option to remove the flagged content, resulting in “Content ID claims.” These claims can restrict where the video is viewable or whether it can be monetized. To resolve these issues, YouTube now allows creators to edit out the claimed content without re-uploading the video.
Creators can now edit out just the claimed segment or replace the song. If the audio in your video is claimed, you can replace it with audio from the YouTube Audio Library. Another option is to mute the claimed audio, either just the song or all the audio in the video.
Steps to Remove Copyright Content from a Video:
1. Sign in to YouTube Studio.
2. From the left menu, select Content.
3. Click the filter bar and select Copyright.
4. Find the video you’re interested in.
5. In the Restrictions column, hover over Copyright.
6. Click SEE DETAILS.
7. Under the Content identified in this video section, find the relevant claim and click SELECT ACTIONS.
– Trim out segment
– Replace song
– Mute song
By following these steps, you can ensure your videos comply with YouTube’s copyright policies while maintaining your creative vision.
